simple pleasures...trying macarons for the first time. pistachio was my favorite.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who left such sweet and encouraging comments about my last house hunting post. We ended up pulling out of the house and I am feeling so good about our decision. I know in time we will find the perfect home for us!

  2. Love the liberty-esque print of the bowl.

I'm glad you came to a decision that you feel good about. Your house is out there waiting for you to make it a home!

  4. macarons are from heaven! I swear!

house hunting is so emotional, I have always dreamed of my own home as well. When the time came to buy a house, it is amazing how different things turn out than how I imagined in my head. But it always turns out for the better. Goodluck in your house search. You will find one that is perfect for you.

  5. Those look delicious. I bought some on Etsy a few months ago and savored each bite. Sounds like you made the right choice about the house too :)

  7. still haven't had those yet but it's on my list of things i definitely must try before i die. i have a sweet tooth like no other so it's only a matter of time. and stumbling upon a bakery that sells it. haven't bumped into one in SF yet.

late on the home post. but i think you made the right decision. a home should not be a rushed process, however much you really wish for one. i haven't read your blog long enough to know which city you are referring to, but i live in SF (where 99% of my relatives reside - and i'm talking second cousins, great aunts/uncles, third cousins, etc. it's a whole chinese village for me!) and i can say that thankfully SF is one of those cities that can seem like a suburb/middle of nowhere (if you've got the money for that kind of charm and quaintness that is) and still retain the benefits of being an urban environment. great balance. if i weren't such a city girl i'd probably live full time in the country too, except that having been raised chinese, there's no way i'd be able to live and raise kids away from the chinatown i've grown fond of and all the relatives that probably won't be moving out of the city anytime soon (maybe in a couple generations?). for me, it's almost like i have no choice but to stay put, if i want to be close to family and culture.

i apologize for going off topic but my first home is definitely something i think about A LOT. location is key because of the aforementioned family/village and cultural issues. and because i am still quite young, i have dreams of living in nyc and the eastern seaboard in general. if i had it my way, i'd i have homes in my hometown SF, NYC, and somewhere smack dab in the middle of the good ole US of A. but... that requires a lot of money. :)

good luck on your house hunting! i'm sure it'll all pull through in time.

  9. mmm macarons. if you have a trader joe's nearby and craving some macarons, stop by. they have decent vanilla & chocolate (i like vanilla more) macaroons in the freezer section.
